Michael Bloom

Michael Bloom - Producer • Writer • Director Michael has been creating quality television titles since 1986. Earth Aid with Ed Begley Jr, and every comedy special he has directed are his favorites. Most of his television credits are easily found at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1404954/ In 1983, a short two years after graduating from USC, and landing the coveted jobs at David Wolper Presents, Michael Bloom took little time deciding it would be video rather than film as his medium of choice. He was one of the first to recognize the renewable and very lucrative nature of distributing all forms of content directly to the consumer on VHS. By 1985, he was the number one video many represented at The William Morris Agency, Beverly Hills. He was the one person always a phone call away with magic in a bottle, Howard use to say. In August of 1989, Wayne Wally, a senior beat writer for Ad Age Magazine wrote and published a 2 page summary which specifically identified a monumental shift in the packaged-goods premium/promotion business. In it he coined the phrase "Product Related Marketing" (PRM) and reported Bloom was the one responsible for it. He wrote this article after learning of, and monitoring the success of an innovative yet unconventional promotion, he created for General Mills. Shortly later Ad Age and its staff transposed the PRM phrase into more popular jargon calling it "Branding". Today, still evolving, Branding naturally implies much more than it did then. Bloom hardly feels too responsible for this accolade, however it rivals his Golden Apple Award as his most memorable and proudest acknowledgements. The title he was awarded the gold for, Child Development, The First Two Years remains one of the top seller’s in its category worldwide.
